Donald Trump today signed an Executive Order establishing that, “It is the policy of the United States to cooperate with its regional partners to eliminate the capabilities and operations of Muslim Brotherhood chapters designated as foreign terrorist organizations…, deprive those chapters of resources and thereby end any threat such chapters pose to United States nationals or the national security of the United States.” These chapters will also be deemed “specially designated global terrorists.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott yesterday designated the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organizations. He explicitly subjected those groups and “any persons promoting or aiding their criminal activities” to prosecution pursuant to state law.

Although a federal holiday, Veterans Day seems to be an appropriate time to call attention to the importance of that oath (or variations on the theme) sworn by other public servants and office-holders, as well.
