Leadership Letter to President Trump: Ban the Brotherhood!

Designate the Muslim Brotherhood and Its Entities as Terrorist Organizations

Hon. Donald J. Trump
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear President Trump:

Thank you for faithfully adhering to your oath of office to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States” against all enemies, foreign and domestic. We are especially grateful for your recognition going back to August 15, 2016 of the threat posed by “Radical Islam’s ideology” and your promise on that date that, “The support networks for Radical Islam in this country will be stripped out and removed one by one.”

In the intervening years, the danger posed by adherents to Radical Islam’s ideology, sharia, has metastasized greatly. In particular, the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan in Arabic) has established in this nation a vast infrastructure of radical clerics, mosques that serve as arsenals and military training facilities, hundreds of militant front organizations, sharia-adherent communities and populations, overt and covert funding sources and terror cells. Increasingly, violence, or the threat of violence, has been associated with sharia-supremacists across our country.

As you know, on November 18, 2025, Texas Governor Greg Abbott responded to such enemies within by designating the Muslim Brotherhood and its most prominent U.S. front organization, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), as foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organizations. His proclamation cited in no fewer than twenty-eight “Whereas” clauses ample grounds for doing so.

In addition, a clandestine Muslim Brotherhood “Explanatory Memorandum” introduced by federal prosecutors in the largest terrorism finance trial in U.S. history – involving an Islamic “charity” known as the Holy Land Foundation, which was used to raise funds for the Brothers’ Palestinian franchise, the designated terrorist organization Hamas – made clear the organization’s mission. It directed, in part:

The process of settlement is a “Civilization-Jihadist Process” with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and Allah’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.

To his credit, Gov. Abbott has prohibited the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR from “purchasing or acquiring an interest in land in Texas.” And on November 20th, he directed the Texas Department of Public Safety to open criminal investigations of the two organizations.

We are writing in response to the Executive Order you issued on November 24, 2025 in which you declared:

It is the policy of the United States to cooperate with its regional partners to eliminate the capabilities and operations of Muslim Brotherhood chapters designated as foreign terrorist organizations pursuant to section 3 of this order, deprive those chapters of resources, and thereby end any threat such chapters pose to United States nationals or the national security of the United States. (Emphasis added.)

Your Order creates a “process” whereby the Secretaries of State and the Treasury are to report back to you by Christmas Eve with their recommendations about which “chapters and subdivisions of the Muslim Brotherhood” should be designated as foreign terrorist organizations. You gave them a further forty-five days to develop a plan for effecting such designations.

We respectfully urge you and your subordinates to act without delay to ban the Brotherhood, meaning the parent organization as well as all of its chapters and subdivisions, including the U.S. ones and their infrastructure in this country. Only by so doing is there any realistic prospect, as you rightly ordered, of “end[ing] any threat such chapters pose to United States nationals or the national security of the United States.”

We stand ready to support you and your administration in taking this corrective action against the “Radical Islamic ideology” of sharia and ensuring that its support networks are, indeed, “stripped out and removed one by one.”

Sincerely,
